That still doesn’t mean I’m not at risk of contracting Hepatitis, and this is what the World Hepatitis Alliance is urging everyone in the World to realise. There is a common misconception that Hepatitis is only spread through sharing drug needles and getting tattooed at a dodgy parlour. This has led to the unfair stigma attached to Hepatitis, but it is not a reality.

Something as above board as getting dental work done abroad or receiving a blood transfusion could put you at risk if the conditions are unsanitary and this is why the stigma that sufferers receive is unfair.

Not only does awareness of Hepatitis need to be raised to stop this stigma, but also to stop people taking the risks and to urge Health Organisations to develop adequate treatment programmes and research into cures. To help raise awareness join the global campaign at www.aminumber12.org.
