Use of Bedbug Sprays
If you found out that you have bedbugs at home, the next thing to do is to find the site that is infested with these insects. Finding the site of infestation is really quite easy.
First, observe the time when you had the bite marks. Where did you lie down that time? Once you already know which room, you now have to look for the insects themselves. Check the mattress and sofa first. These are the usual habitats of bedbugs. Then check any furniture that is near the infested mattress or sofa. Look for cracks or crevices. You may see an adult bedbug or a nymph.
One type of bedbugs that you will find is the mature adult form. These adult bedbugs are reddish-brown in color and their bodies are approximately 4 to 5 mm long. Adults have oval, flat bodies that look banded. Adults are also wingless.
Another type of bedbugs is the immature nymph. Compared to adults, nymphs are lighter, translucent, and smaller. Now that you have identified the insects and the site of infestation, you can do two things to get rid of them. You can either call an exterminator, or you can go to the store to buy a bedbug spray.
There are pesticides designed to kill bedbugs. These pesticides can be bought in dust form or in sprays. There are also pesticides that are eco-friendly and less toxic.
In choosing a bedbug spray, you must first know if this can be used on the materials that your furniture is made from. There are some bedbug sprays that can be used on wood only. And others are for mattresses only. But still, some bedbug sprays can be used on any material.
Before spraying, you must scrub and vacuum all the infested furniture. In disposing of the vacuum bag, put this inside a plastic bag to contain the bedbugs there.
After you have scrubbed and vacuumed the infested furniture, you can now apply the insecticide. Before application, make sure that you read the instructions carefully. Follow the instructions for application properly and make sure if re-treatment is needed or not. There are many types of bedbug sprays that are available in the market today. The common ones are Allethrin, Pyrethrins, Malathion, and Tempo.
